$240,000 Colt for Practical Joke at OBS
Practical Joke found more 2-year-old sale success on Thursday when his colt out of Colonel Dettwiller sold for $240,000 to J. A. S. at the OBS Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds In Training.
Breezing in :10.1 last week, the Randy Miles-offered juvenile is out of a winning half-sister to Grade I winner and sire Yes It’s True and multiple stakes winner Honest Deceiver. Colonel Dettwiller herself is also the dam of one winner from only two to race and has potential to be a top producer with multiple half-sisters producing stakes performers.
Bred by Forty Oaks, this colt is one of 23 to sell for Practical Joke this juvenile sales season. His 2-year-olds are hitting all the right notes with the group averaging $238,675 with a median of $160,000.
A top racehorse, Practical Joke has proved to be a much in-demand sire with his first 2-year-olds selling for $800,000, $750,000, $500,000, ect. with multiple session toppers. His only runner to-date also showed what’s in store for the stallion in coming months when nearly winning on debut at Keeneland.
