$240,000 Gone To Town Headlines Mares In Foal to Mendelssohn
Munnings daughter Gone To Town provided Mendelssohn a top results for his first mares in foal at Keeneland’s November Breeding Stock sale on Thursday when selling for $240,000 to Nursery Place.
Bred on a February cover to the Grade I Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winner, the Taylor Made Sales Agency-consigned mare is carrying her first foal by the stallion.
The winning Gone To Town comes from a productive family with her dam Faux Pas proving to be both a producer of stakes horses and stakes producers with three stakes winners and four stakes producing daughters under her. Faux Pas is following a deep tradition for her family as her half-sister is Champion and graded stakes producer Negligent, who is also the granddam of Champion Sky Lantern.
A regally-bred Grade I winner at two and track record setter in the Grade II UAE Derby at three, Mendelssohn has proven to be extremely popular with breeders in his first year at stud.
