$250,000 Colt Continues Top Fasig-Tipton Sale for Practical Joke
A $250,000 colt led the way for Practical Joke during Thursday’s session of the Fasig-Tipton Selected Yearling Sale to conclude a busy sale for the in-demand sire.
Purchased by Frank Alosa for Red Lane Thoroughbreds from Wynnstay Sales, the colt out of Adande was bred by H. Allen Poindexter. The dam of three foals, Adande is a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner Isotherm and Grade I-placed Gio Game with her stakes placed dam Game For More also adding a third winner to her produce record after the catalogue was released.
The sire of three six figure yearlings on Thursday, Practical Joke’s second most expensive of the day was the $170,000 Hip 628.
Purchased by the Hartsville Partners from Bluewater Sales for $170,00, the Grace is Gone filly bred by Marcus Stables is a granddaughter of Grade I-placed Grace Anatomy, who is also the dam of stakes placed Retro. The filly’s fourth dam is Grade I winner Plenty Of Grace, who is also the granddam of multiple graded stakes winner and sire Diabolical.
The $150,000 Hip 621 rounded out Practical Joke’s six figure offerings with North London Bloodstock signing the ticket for the Stuart Morris consigned filly. Out of Speightstown mare Goforitmrsmiller, the Amy Rabanal, DVM, Constance Wicks, and Highclere, Inc-bred filly is a half-sister to stakes placed Bandwidth and six-time winner Grade One from her dam’s four winners from five to race.
Goforitmrsmiller is also a half-sister to four stakes horses, led by Grade II winners Miss Isella and Sir Cherokee.
The filly is bred on the same Into Mischief x Speightstown cross that has produced eight winners from nine starters, including five stakes horses led by Grade I winner Mia Mischief, Grade II winner Engage, and Grade III winner Mischevious Alex.
Led by a $320,000 filly, three-time Grade I winner Practical Joke saw eight of his yearlings sell for six figures during the Fasig-Tipton sale. His 11 sold overall brought a combined $1,865,000 and an average of $169,545 with a $165,000 median.
