$250,000 Colt Leads Mendelssohn’s Sunday Charge
Mendelssohn was in high demand again on Sunday at the Keeneland September Sale when his 11 sold were led by six six-figure yearlings.
A colt out of Crown Royal Queen was the leader when Vince J. Foglia went to $250,000 to purchase him from the Paramount Sales draft.
The yearling is the first for the winning Tale of the Cat mare, who is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Sky Promise and out of stakes winner Maddie’s Promise. Bred in Pennsylvania by Forgotten Land Investment, the colt also sold last year as a weanling through the Taylor Made Sales Agency consignment.
There are stakes winners under each of the colt’s first four dams of racing age with his fourth dam producing two stakes performers. That mare, Dolphins Dream, is also the granddam of multiple champion Housebuster with five of her daughters producing stakes winners or placers.
Mendelssohn’s others sold on Sunday include two $235,000 fillies with the group averaging $129,182 with a median of $120,000.
Through six sessions, Mendelssohn’s 45 sold have been led by yearlings selling for $900,000, $750,000, $510,000, etc. with an average of $196,911 and median of $150,000.
