$250,000 Colt Leads Way for Tiz The Law at Fasig-Tipton Saratoga
Two Tiz The Law yearlings went through the ring this week at Fasig-Tipton Saratoga with both popular with bidders, led by a $250,000 yearling purchased by Tom McCrocklin.
Consigned by Eaton Sales, the May-born colt is a half-brother to the stakes placed Let’s Cruise from two winners out of Civility Pledge. That winning Hard Spun mare is a half-sister to Grade I winner Sinister Minister and out of the stakes winning Sweet Minister. That mare is also the granddam of the stakes placed Penny Shots.
There are stakes performers under each of the four dams on the colt’s page with the four produced by his stakes performing fourth dam including the Grade III winner Prospector’s Flag.
Sold the following day by Bluegrass Thoroughbred Services as agent for Merriebelle Stable was a $150,000 colt out of Taboo.
Another one purchased by Tom McCrocklin, the colt saw an update after the catalog was released when his half-brother Let My People Go won the Karl Boyes Stakes. The gelding was already stakes placed as one of three stakes horses out of Taboo. The mare’s seven winners also include Grade III placed Der Lu and the stakes placed Smartly Agree, who also produced stakes placed Towhead.
This colt’s second dam is the Grade I winner Dream of Summer, who produced three graded stakes winners in the Grade I winning duo of Creative Cause and Vexatious and Grade II winner and Grade I runner up Destin with her Uncle Mo filly Summer Promise also Grade III placed. Uncle Mo is also the sire of a two-time winning half-sister to this colt.
Tiz The Law’s five winners is fifth best of all first crop sires in 2024 with all five winning Maiden Special Weight races at Saratoga, Ellis, Churchill Downs, and Horseshoe Indianapolis.
