$350,000 Filly Leads Stellar Day for Munnings
Munnings hit the ground running at the OBS Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training on Tuesday when his filly out of Mylitta sold to Live Oak Plantation for $350,000, the second highest price of day half-way through the session.
Consigned by Mayberry Farm, the Edward Seltzer-bred filly was purchased for $110,000 at last year’s Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Select Yearling Sale by Bradley Thoroughbreds. The filly is the first out of the winning Sky Mesa mare Mylitta, a half-sister to the Group III Italian 2000 Guineas winner Malossol and from the family of Champion Alywow and Grade III winner Wow Me Free.
She was part of a two-pronged attack for Munnings on the first day of action with his son out of stakes-placed Listen Boy bringing over five times the $25,000 stud fee he was conceived on when sold for $140,000.
Bred by Dr. and Mrs. A Leonard Pineau and sold for $80,000 at last year’s Keeneland September Yearling Sale, the colt sold from Grassroots Training and Sales to L.E.B. as agent for West Point Thoroughbreds.
Breezing in :10.0 last week, the dark bay is a half-brother to two winners with his dam also a half-sister to Thunder Gulch’s stakes winning Monzon and one other stakes placed runner.
Having another stellar year on the track, value sire Munnings’ 2020 runners including Grade II winners and Kentucky Oaks contender Bonny South, Finite, and Venetian Harbor.
