$425,000 Colt Leads Way for Practical Joke at Fasig-Tipton
M V Magnier, Wesley Ward, Andrew Farm, and Dr Ramon Tallaj partnered together on Tuesday night to purchase a $425,000 colt by top freshman sire Practical Joke at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale.
A $185,000 Keeneland November weanling graduate, the colt bred by Forging Oaks was offered by Gainesway. He is a half-brother to multiple Grade II winner Secret Gypsy and stakes-placed Little Emma, whose only foal is the stakes winner Midnight Emma.
The colt’s granddam is the stakes placed Morini, who is also a half-sister to Group III-placed Protectorate. His fourth dam Possessive is the dam of Group I winner and stakes producer Posessive Dancer.
Practical Joke also saw his colt out of Kashami bring $280,000 from Christina R. Jelm for David and Holly Wilson half-way through the second session.
Consigned by Blake-Albina Thoroughbred Services, that colt is out of a half-sister to multiple Grade II winner and Grade I-placed Willcox Inn and a full sister to stakes-placed Francisca. His Grade III-placed granddam is a half-sister to dual Grade I winner Cetewayo and Dynaforce and Grade II winner Bowman Mill with another sibling finishing third in the Group I Prix Lupin.
All three of Practical Joke’s offerings at the Fasig-Tipton Yearling Sale went to new owners with the trio averaging $375,000 with an impressive median of $420,000.
