$435,000 Filly for Mendelssohn at Fasig-Tipton Saratoga

Klaravich Stables secured a $435,000 Mendelssohn filly on Tuesday at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale to lead the freshman’s Saratoga offerings.

Offered by Mill Ridge Sales, the filly was going through the ring for the second time after selling as a weanling last November. In the intervening eight months, she had seen multiple updates with three of those coming after the catalog was released.

Out of the unraced Curlin mare Perazzi, the chestnut filly is a half-sister to Imperial Creed. The only foal out of her dam to race, Imperial Creed was second in her 2021 debut in late July to take her record to three wins and six other top three finishes in 16 starts.

She only provided one of the updates for the filly, however, with Perazzi’s stakes winning three-quarter sister Striking Tomisue seeing son Nate’s Attack finish third in the John Henry Stakes after the catalog was released. Another one of Perazzi’s stakes half-siblings also added increased earnings to the page when Grade II-placed Palace Avenger finished second in her 2021 debut.

The filly’s fourth dam is the Group I winner Chimes of Freedom, who also produced champion Aldebaran and Grade I winner Good Journey among others.

A Grade I winning half-brother to champion sire Into Mischief, Mendelssohn has seen his first yearlings sell for $435,000, $185,000, $185,000, etc.
