$450,000 Filly for Munnings

A $450,000 filly was the most expensive for Munnings on Tuesday with Tom McCrocklin purchasing her for Champion Equine at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale.

Consigned by Paramount Sales, the filly is out of winning Smart Strike mare In Full Compliance, who has two winners from three to race. In Full Compliance is also a half-sister to the stakes-placed duo of Devon Rock and Bear’s Swan.

Bred by Springhouse Farm, this filly is also a great-granddaughter of champion La Chaposa. A top broodmare after her career on the track, she produced dual Grade I winner Chaposa Springs, Grade I winner You And I and multiple successful producing daughters.

Cherie Devaux signed for a $385,000 colt on behalf of Belladonna Racing early in the session, the second most expensive offering of the day by Munnings.

Bred by Susan King and offered by Indian Creek, the colt is the second out of two-time winner Above The Crowd. That mare is a half-sister to Lookin At Lucky’s four-time stakes winner Good Luck Gus and the dam of the stakes winning Texas Long Bow.

This colt’s third dam is another successful racemare and broodmare with Strategic Maneuver winning multiple Grade Is before producing graded stakes winners Cat Fighter and Ishiguru and the dams of five other stakes performers.

Munnings’ other two offerings in the session sold for $280,000 and $200,000.

In all, the leading sire had eight sell for an average of $376,250 and median of $377,500, led by a $700,000 filly. Munnings’ lease expensive offering was a $200,000 filly, nearly 7-times the advertised stud fee this crop was conceived on.
