Air Force Blue’s Old Arbat Romps in Maiden Special Weight
Old Arbat (3g Air Force Blue x Alone, by Galileo) made good work of his second start at Arlington Park on Friday with a four length victory in a Maiden Special Weight.
Racing over six furlongs on the All Weather track, Old Arbat showed speed soon out of the gate to confront the early leaders. The gelding and one other soon broke away from the rest of the field and started their own match race.
Old Arbat drifted a little in the stretch but that didn’t keep him racing away to win easily after finishing second by a nose on debut.
Trained by Gennadi Dorochenko for Glockenburg LLC, Old Arbat was bred by the Don Alberto Corporation.
Bred on a similar cross to the War Front x Galileo daughter matings that produced as champions U S Navy Flag and Roly Poly among 18 stakes winners, Old Arbat is also bred on the same cross as Air Force Blue’s stakes placed Take Profit.
Old Arbat’s dam Alone is a full sister to Irish Champion and three-time Group I winner Lush Lashes and stakes-placed Claudio Monteverdi. Alone’s sisters have also produced Group III winner Maker of Kings and stakes winner Emblem Storm.
A top eight Second-Crop sire by number of 2021 winners at 18, he also sits in that position by number of winners overall at 31.
