B Minor Second Winner of Day for Mendelssohn

It was a second winner on the day for Mendelssohn when B Minor (2c Mendelssohn x Tocame Linda, by Speightstown) broke his maiden on the Churchill Downs dirt.

The chestnut raced three lengths off the leader early on in the one-mile dirt race before the leader started pulling away from the field. B Minor had over five lengths to make up going into the final furlong but he showed a big turn for foot to win by a neck.

Trained by Ken McPeek, B Minor races for Walking L Thoroughbreds and was bred by Don Alberto.

He is the first foal out of three-time winner Tocame Linda, a half-sister to stakes-placed Corps of Discovery and out of Grade III winner Touching Beauty. There are stakes performers under the colt’s first nine dams with the extended family including Canadian Horse of the Year and broodmare Fanfreluche.

Tocame Linda has a yearling filly by Mendelssohn to come as well.

Mendelssohn now has 15 winners with nine of those coming since August 1, including the stakes placed Miracle.
