Blueblooded Justify Colt Wins on Debut at Fair Grounds
Blue Diamond Stud homebred Wonderful Justice (3c Justify x I’m Wonderful, by Giant’s Causeway) was another debut winner for his sire on Friday with a debut victory at Fair Grounds.
Wonderful Justice was happy to race in second in the 1 1/16 mile turf Maiden Special Weight a few lengths off the keen pacemaker before closing in on him half a mile from the line. Wonderful Justice confronted the longtime leader as they entered the stretch with one other horse and those two took command while dueling.
He put that one away and had too big of a margin for a late closer to catch him with a half-length advantage at the line.
Trained by Brad Cox, Wonderful Justice is out of a full sister to dual Grade I winner Carpe Diem and half-sister to Thunder Gulch’s Grade I winner J.B.’s Thunder and three other stakes performers out of the stakes winning Rebridled Dreams.
The sire of two stakes performers this year, Justify is the sire of 32 winners overall, led by six stakes winners and 10 stakes performers. That group includes a generation-leading seven graded stakes performers.
