Cast Member Stays Undefeated in Stakes Debut

Munnings’ Cast Member (2f Munnings x Be My Baby, by Artie Schiller) stayed undefeated on Saturday with a victory in the Golden State Juvenile Fillies Stakes.

The filly closely attended the leader in the seven-furlong dirt race as she raced wide down the backstretch and around the turn. Moving one path closer in the stretch, she made her move and started battling the pacesetter inside the final furlong.

That one gave way as Cast Member edged to a one length win with Mo Town’s Cholly closing fast for second – Mo Town’s second stakes performer of the weekend.

Trained by Tim Yakteen for owner-breeder George Krikorian, Cast Member is the first foal out of a winning half-sister to the Grade II winner and Grade I-placed Kitten’s Roar. Under her third dam is the Grade II winner and multiple Grade I second Scherzinger with the family also including Grade II winner and this year’s Grade I Spinster Stakes second Army Wife.

Munnings’ 15 2022 stakes winners is second best among all North American stallions with the group led by multiple Grade I winner Jack Christopher.
