Cool Shadows Newest Stakes Winner for Munnings
Chiefswood Stables Limited homebred Cool Shadows (2f Munnings x Cool Faith, by Pulpit) became Munnings’ newest stakes winner on Saturday when the talented 2-year-old filly won the Listed Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Woodbine.
Running over 1 1/16 miles, Cool Shadows raced at the back of the field under jockey Jerome Lermyte as she patiently waited for her time to strike. That time came in the stretch when she showed a strong late kick to catch the leaders in the shadow of the wire and win by a neck for her second victory in three starts.
A granddaughter of Canadian Champion Ambitious Cat, Cool Shadows is the first foal for her Listed placed dam Cool Faith, who is also a half-sister to two stakes horses. Cool Shadows hails from the family of Grade I Kentucky Oaks winner Blushing K.D. and Hong Kong Champion Electric Unicorn among others.
Trained by Stuart Simon, Cool Shadow is one of 23 2-year-old winners for her sire this year and joins Breeders’ Cup hopeful Kimari as Munnings' two stakes winners with four 2-year-old stakes horses overall this year for the stallion.
