Cupid Strikes With $190,000 Filly at Keeneland
Cupid lit up the board on Saturday when his daughter out of Chelsea Road sold for $190,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
Bought by Selective LLC from Buckland Sales, Hip 1715 was the fourth most expensive of the day at the time the hammer fell 100 hips into the session. Bred by Millennium Farm, the chesnut is a half-sister to one winner from one to race out of her dam, a half-sister to stakes placed Aces High.
Chelsea Road herself is a granddaughter of stakes winner and 2001 Broodmare of the Year Turko’s Turn, whose foals include Thunder Gulch’s Horse of the Year Point Given among four stakes horses. Many of that mare’s daughters have proven to be stakes producers with three producing stakes horses, including Grade II winner Street Story.
A Grade I winner and $900,000 yearling purchase himself, Cupid has seen his first yearlings fare well, bringing $190,000, $130,000, ect.
