Cupid’s The Sky Is Falling Registers Stakes Treble

Cupid’s The Sky Is Falling (3f Cupid x Miss Henny Penny, by Half Ours) added a third stakes victory to her record on Saturday with a 2 ½ length Sylvia Bishop Memorial Stakes win.

Going for her sixth career victory and third straight, The Sky Is Falling raced in second a few lengths off the pacesetter with the rest of the field far behind in the seven-furlong race. Nearly half-way through the race, she moved a few steps closer to the pacesetter and drew even in the turn.

The pair fought for the lead early in the stretch but in the end, The Sky Is Falling proved to be best and won going away.

The 3-year-old dark bay is trained by Jeff Runco for David Raim and has only finished off the board once in her eight career starts.

Bred by Catherine Jennings and Scott Mallory, The Sky Is Falling is one of two stakes winners out of the stakes-placed mare Miss Henny Penny. That mare has four winners from four to race overall and is also the dam of two-time blacktype winner Door Buster.

Cupid’s first runners are led by Grade II winner and Grade I Kentucky Oaks third Desert Dawn with four stakes winners and eight stakes performers to his name. Both those rank him in the top five of his generation with the stallion standing for a fraction of the price of anyone else in that group.

His 41 2022 Northern Hemisphere-born winners are also second only to Practical Joke’s 42.
