Dealmeinbud Newest Winner for Practical Joke
The Brendan Walsh-trained Dealmeinbud (2g Practical Joke x Bama Belle, by Giant’s Causeway) is worldwide winner number 16 for his sire after a maiden victory at Keeneland on Sunday.
A $210,000 Keeneland January graduate last year, the Deal Me In Syndicate-owned juvenile let the pacesetter race just ahead of him for much of the six furlong dirt race. Dealmeinbud’s move came in the stretch when he showed when Corey Lanerie had been keeping in check until that point.
Geared down by Lanerie, Dealmeinbud still pulled away to win by 6 ½ lengths to take his record to two top three finishes in three starts.
Dealmeinbud is out of the Giant’s Causeway mare Bama Belle and was bred by Carhue Investments, Chelsea Bloodstock, and Paget Bloodstock.
The dam of two winners from two to race, Bama Belle is a half-sister to Grade I winner and stakes producer Funny Moon and stakes winner Throng. Their Easy Goer dam is a half-sister to U.S. champion Vanlandingham and stakes winner Popular Tune.
The family also includes French champion African Rose, Irish champion Termagant, Group I winner Distant Music, and Coolmore’s multiple group winning stallion Calyx.
Bama Belle is a regular visitor to the Ashford breeding shed. She was bred to Justify last year and visited Munnings this year.
