First Golden Pal Weanlings Set for Keeneland November
It’s set to be a big Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale for Golden Pal, who has 42 weanlings scheduled to sell during the nine sessions.
The first through the ring for Golden Pal is Hip 104, a Taylor Made-offered half-brother to Grade III winner Implicated bred by Somewhere Stables.
Implicated is the first to race out of Tale of the Cat mare Wysteria, whose 2-year-old brought $155,000 as a weanling at this sale two years ago. Wysteria’s stakes placed dam Smokey Diplomacy is also the dam of Grade III winner Kallio and stakes winner Clear The Runaway among her six winners with the group also including two-time stakes placed Sallisaw.
Each of the dams on this colt’s page have produced at least one stakes performer with Grade I winner Oratorio also hailing from the family.
Elm Tree Farm is the consignor of Hip 126, a Golden Pal colt out of Becky’s Best bred by Warran Harang.
That Elusive Quality mare is the dam of Practical Joke’s Grade III winner Becky’s Joker from two foals of racing age. Unraced herself, Becky’s Best is a half-sister to the Grade II winner Vertical Oak and two other stakes performers out of multiple stakes winner Vertical Vision, who is also the granddam of Grade I-placed Giant Mischief.
A half-sister to Group II winner Legends of War and Justify’s stakes placed Tahoma sells as 271 with Nursery Place.
That duo are two of the five winners from six to race out of Madera Dancer, who is a daughter of the stakes winning Maxxi Arte. This page has a strong group of stakes performers with Grade I winners Linngari and Mont Ormel leading the 14 different stakes performers named.
Successful race and broodmare Sisterhood is the dam of Hunter Valley Farm’s Hip 790, a February-born filly bred by her consignor and Pat Barrett.
Sisterhood was a stakes winner on the track and multiple Grade III placed, but her biggest successes come as a broodmare. Her four winners include three winners with stakes winners Be My Sunshine and In The Mood leading the charge. Another one of her daughters is also the dam of the multiple stakes placed Reach for the Rose.
Sisterhood’s dam Caterette had much success with Kitten’s Joy as a broodmare. In addition to Sisterhood, she is also the dam of Kitten’s Joy’s stakes winning Cozy Kitten and Grade III-placed Becky’s Kitten. Caterette is one of three stakes producers out of Jodie Faster, who also produced stakes winner and producer Enduring Will and the dam of Grade III winner Frumos.
A half-sister to the dam of Uncle Mo’s Grade III winner Girl Daddy is the dam of the Sun Valley Farm-bred Hip 1047, consigned by Denali Stud.
This is the second foal out of Street Boss mare Kitty, who is a half-sister to stakes winner Abby’s Angel and Grade I placed Miss Jean Brodie among the eight winners out of Miss Kilroy. That A.P. Indy daughter has proven to be the matriarch of a strong family that spans the generations.
Miss Kilroy’s daughters have produced seven different stakes performers while her granddaughters and great-granddaughters have three of their own stakes performers listed on this page as well.
Grovendale Sales consigns Hip 1286, a colt bred by Brad King, Clay Cash, Scott Bryant, Stan Kirby, and Chris Coleman.
The colt is out of the Dynaformer mare Ain’t No Tellin’ who has produced four winners from four to race from five foals of racing age. That group includes the Grade II placed Malibu Secret and stakes placed Tidal Forces to follow in the steps of her stakes winning dam Misty Mission.
Misty Mission was named Canada’s Outstanding Broodmare in 2012 as the dam of dual champion Irish Mission with her other runners including stakes winners French Beret and Mythical Mission. Another one of Misty Mission’s foals is the winning Smart Mission, who is a stakes producer in her own right as the dam of Grade III winner Mission Of Joy.
Hailing from the family of champion Nest is the Kathryn Nikkel and Turtle Creek Farms-bred Hip 1724, offered by Taylor Made Sales.
That colt is out of the More Than Ready mare Auntie Sparkles, who is the dam of two winners from three to race as the latest successful mare out of Grade II winner and Grade I placed Andujar. That mare produced the stakes winning duo of Marion Ravenwood and Abstraction from her own three winners. Marion Ravenwood in turn has produced five winners with that group including Nest, Grade I winner Idol, stakes winner Lost Ark, and multiple stakes placed Dr Jack.
Hip 1822 consigned by Paramount Sales hails from the Springhouse Farm breeding program out of Foolish Cause.
That Giant’s Causeway mare has already become a successful broodmare with just four of racing age, including three winners. That group of winners includes stakes winner Foolish Humor and Grade II-placed From Dusk with her 2-year-old bringing $125,000 as a yearling last year.
Foolish Cause is a half-sister to the three-time Grade I winner Get Stormy and four-time winner Foolish Tiger among three to win out of Foolish Gal. Each of the four dams on this page have blacktype listed under their names.
Upson Downs Farm-offered Hip 2271 received a big update in the last few months when the Michael Hui-bred’s dam’s half-sister saw 2-year-old Wootton Bassett son Ides of March win the Group III Round Tower Stakes. That is the first stakes winner out of Grade I winner Nickname, who is one of two stakes performing siblings to this filly’s dam Hey Paige.
Hey Paige is the dam of one winner from two to race with her 2-year-old already placed as well. Hey Paige is out of the stakes placed Nina Fever, who is also a granddaughter of the Grade III winner and Grade I-placed Good Potential.
Golden Pal has horses selling in all but the eighth session and is also the covering sire of 13 in-foal mares at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.
