First Maximum Security Weanlings Set for Keeneland November
Champion Maximum Security is set to hit another milestone over the next few weeks when he’s represented by his first weanlings at the Keeneland November Sale.
Hip 292 from the Legacy Bloodstock consignment is the first offering from the stallion out of a Tiznow mare. The colt has plenty of connections to the Coolmore America stallion barn hailing from the family of Maximum Security’s four-time Grade I winning studmate Tiz The Law. The names on the page also include Horse of the Year Favorite Trick, Grade III winner and Grade I-placed Fury Kapcori, and Grade II winner Tizfiz.
Beau Lane Bloodstock is the consignor of Hip 310, the first foal out of Carpe Diem mare Crafty Lady. That mare is a three-quarter sister to dual Grade I winner Giant Oak among three stakes winners and seven stakes performers out of Grade III winner Crafty Oak.
In addition to Giant Oak, Crafty Oak produced stakes winner and graded stakes placed runners Apple Martini and Oak Brook – both by Crafty Lady’s grandsire. The mare’s stakes performing daughter Cause She’s Crafty also produced a stakes performer herself.
Hip 422 consigned by Frankfort Park is a grandson of the U.S. champion Questing. He is the second foal out of the winning Bernardini mare Lady Hester, who is a half-sister Grade III winner Adventuring and multiple graded stakes placed Romantic Pursuit.
After the catalog was released, Adventuring also gave the page an update with a win in the Grade III Ladies Marathon. Their dam Questing was a dual Grade I winner in the U.S. to secure the championship as a 3-year-old and herself is a daughter of the multiple stakes winner Chercheuse.
Later in the sale is Hip 1323, a colt out of a Galileo half-sister to Grade I Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winner Hootenanny. There are stakes winners under three of the four dams on his page with his second dam a half-sister to Grade I winner Cat Moves – who also produced the dam of multiple stakes winner Ain’t Life Grand – and stakes winner Dance Hall Days. The colt’s fourth dam is Grade I winner Dance Teacher, who also produced stakes winner Intentional Fever.
The second-to-last Maximum Security weanling to go through the ring has two stakes updates since the catalog was released with both under his first dam. Offered by Mulholland Springs as Hip 2470, his dam earned her first stakes performer when Allen’s Rocket finished third in the Governor Terry E. Branstad. The colt’s half-sister Blue Gallina was also the dam of juvenile stakes performer Bonnieview, who was second in the Iowa Sorority on the same day Allen’s Rocket earned his blacktype.
The Keeneland Sale kicks off on November 7 with Maximum Security’s first weanling going through the ring on the second day of selling.
