Five For Maximum Security at OBS Spring
Champion Maximum Security is the sire of five juveniles consigned in this week’s OBS Spring 2-Year-Old In Training Sale in Ocala, Florida.
The first through the ring is Hip 118, a half-sister to multiple stakes winner R Kinsley Doll, consigned by Ortiz Training Stable.
Bred by Palm Beach Racing, the filly’s dam has produced five winners from five to race with the group also including Practical Joke’s five-time winner Risk Vs Reward. Their dam Honest Gold won two races herself and is a Medaglia d’Oro half-sister to multiple Grade III winner and Grade I-placed Law Abidin Citizen, Grade III winner Feedback, and Grade III-placed Sweet Swingin.
The 12 stakes performers on the page include Grade I winner I Ain’t Bluffing and Canadian champion Truth Of It All.
Hip 129 consigned by Centofanti Thoroughbreds was purchased for $120,000 at last year’s Keeneland September Yearling Sale and will be going through the ring for the third time after selling as a weanling as well.
The George E. Bates Trustee-bred is a half-brother to the stakes placed Summeronsevenhills and four other winners from six to race out of Dixie Union mare Iboughtheranyway.
The mare is a daughter of Grade II winner Westerly Breeze, whose runners include the stakes placed Tizcano among four winners. Her unraced daughters are also the dams of stakes winner Marshall Eddy and the Grade III-placed duo of Society Beau and Aurelia Garland.
Each of the dams on this juvenile’s page have produced at least one stakes performer with 10 stakes performers led by four stakes winners.
The McKathan Bros-consigned Hip 522 goes through the ring during the second session after selling for $110,000 as the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.
Bred by Rio Vista Stables, the colt is out of a placed Union Rags half-sister to Japanese champion and dual Grade I winner Lemon Pop. His fourth dam is Razyana, who produced Group I winner and successful sire Danehill and Grade II winner Eagle Eyed among five stakes winners. Her Grade III winning daughter Harpia is the dam of the stakes placed First Word and the granddam of Grade III-placed Greenhill.
The Maryland-bred Welcome Home is consigned by Fast Horses as Hip 939.
Bred by Mr. and Mrs. Charles McGinnes, the colt is a half-brother to multiple stakes winner Sonny Inspired and three other winners out of Argentesque. That mare is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner and Grade I-placed Aggadan and stakes winner Love You Madly. Among their dam’s five winners is also the dam of stakes winner and Grade I-placed Divine Huntress. All three of the dams on the page have produced at least one stakes winner with a farther four stakes producers just off the page.
Hip 1088 is consigned by Silvestre Chavez Thoroughbreds as the final Maximum Security juvenile through the ring.
Bred in Florida by Craig Lawrence Wheeler, the filly is a half-sister to four winners from six to race out of the Forestry mare Cold Forest. That mare is out of a half-sister to Grade III winners Rotsaluck and Chilly Rooster.
Stakes placed half-sister Cold Awakening is also the dam of Grade II winner Recapturetheglory and the dam of Canadian champion Are You Kidding Me. Eight stakes winners and four other stakes performers are named on the page.
