Fourth Stakes Victory for Forever Souper

Forever Souper (5g American Pharoah x Mighty Souper, by War Front) won his second straight stakes and fourth stakes of the year on Monday with a victory in the Avery Whisman Memorial.

The Live Oak Stud homebred was placed a few lengths behind a dueling top two in the one-mile synthetic race just waiting for the best time to strike. Inching closer around the far turn, he angled wide into the stretch to have clear running room to confront the leader.

He had the lead by the time they hit the final furlong and drew away to win by 2 ¼ lengths as the race favorite.

Trained by Michale Trombetta, the gelding broke the $400,000 mark with his eighth career win taking him to $400,255. In his 17 starts, he has finished in the top three 13 times with his stakes debut coming in January. In six stakes starts this year, he hasn’t yet finished worse than third.

Out of a half-sister to the stakes winning Harmony Hall, Forever Souper is one of two winners from two to race out of the stakes placed Mighty Souper. This is also the family of Grade I winners Lakeway and Mushka.

Forever Souper is one of seven stakes winners and 15 stakes performers for American Pharoah this year. Those seven stakes winners puts him even with stallions such as Practical Joke, Quality Road, and Liam’s Map.
