G2 Winner Leads American Pharoah Stakes Double
It was a 24-hour international stakes double for American Pharoah when In Good Order (4g American Pharoah x Angharad, by Exceed and Excel) followed up Khafre’s (5g American Pharoah x La Dama, by High Chaparral) Matamata Cup win in New Zealand with a win in the Group II Ted Van Heemst in Australia.
Racing just over 1 ¼ miles at Ascot, In Good Order was the first out of the gate before being positioned a few lengths off the leader. Not much changed down the backstretch run but as the field entered the final quarter mile, In Good Order switched to the outside to make his run.
It was a battle in the final furlong but In Good Order was able to get the lead and then keep it to win by just over a head with Holy Roman Emperor’s Numerian finishing third.
Trained by Daniel Morton, In Good Order has five top three finishes in stakes from 20 starts with a fourth in the Group II Western Australian Derby as well.
He’s one of two winners from two to race out of the winning Exceed and Excel mare Angharad. She is a half-sister to the Grade III winner and multiple Grade I placed Sweynesse and Rimraam among the five winners out of three-time winner Swansea.
This was the 55th worldwide stakes winner for American Pharoah, whose 29 worldwide graded stakes winners include 9 Grade I winners.
