L Street Lady (Munnings) Wins The Jersey Girl Stakes at Belmont Park

L Street Lady Gives Munnings Belmont Stakes Double

Munnings’ L Street Lady (3f Munnings x Lady Gayle, by Scat Daddy) added a second stakes victory to her resume at Belmont Park on Sunday with a win in the Listed Jersey Girl Stakes.

Finishing third last out in the Grade III Miss Preakness Stakes, the Brittany Russell-trained L Street Lady broke well in the six furlong dirt race before dropping back.

She was soon the back marker of the race as she galloped comfortably around the track waiting for her cue. L Street Lady started rolling around the turn with Manny Franco asking for everything she had but it took until mid-stretch for her to catch the leader.

Once she did, L Street Lady continued to pull away and win by a length to take her earnings to nearly $200,000 for Madaket Stables.

It was the third win for L Street Lady, who has only finished off the board one time in six career starts.

The filly was a $125,000 purchase by BSW/Crow from Denali Stud at the 2021 Fasig-Tipton July Sale and is from the T&F Farm of Kentucky breeding program out of their mare Lady Gayle.

That mare has two winners from two to race and herself is out of the Grade III winner and Grade I placed Good Student. This is also the extended family of Grade I winner Studentessa.

L Street Lady was the second of two stakes winners for Munnings on the Belmont Stakes card Sunday with Closing Act also winning the Astoria Stakes.
