Little Vic Becomes Practical Joke's 17th Stakes Winner
Little Vic (3c Practical Joke x Rock and Glory, by Rock Hard Ten) became Practical Joke’s 17th worldwide stakes winner and second stakes winner of the week with a win in the Listed City of Laurel Stakes.
Coming into the race off an Allowance victory last month, Little Vic raced in midpack over the seven furlongs at Laurel Park. Racing along the rail down the backstretch, the colt had to look for room but when it came around the turn, he was ready to run.
Little Vic shot to the lead at the head of the stretch and was kept focused as he pulled away to a 1 ½ length victory at the line for his fourth career win.
Trained by Juan Carlos Avila for Victoria’s Ranch, Little Vic has finished in the top three in six of 10 starts for $179,230 in earnings with victories coming at four different tracks.
Bred by Stride Sales and Syndicate, Little Vic is one of two runners out of the multiple stakes winning Rock and Glory, who is a half-sister to the stakes placed Gorgeous Ginny.
Little Vic is a third-generation stakes winner and fourth generation stakes performer with each of his first three dams earning blacktype. Each of his first five dams have also produced stakes performers.
Practical Joke is the sire of 17 stakes winners and 31 stakes performers, led by five Grade I winners. Included in those numbers are 10 Northern Hemisphere foaled stakes winners and 18 Northern Hemisphere foaled stakes performers.
That group is led by Grade I winner Chocolate Gelato with Practical Joke’s 95 Northern Hemisphere foaled winners the most of any second-crop sire.
