Love Her Lots Another Debut Winner for Cupid
Love Her Lots (2f Cupid x Curtain Call, by Congrats) became the newest debut winner for her sire on Thursday when she took home a Gulfstream Park Maiden Special Weight over six furlongs.
The gray broke a step slowly but quickly showed her speed as she was sent up to race in a battle for third. Maintaining her spot on the rail, a hole opened for Love Her Lots as they raced down the stretch and after some encouraging she went for it.
It wasn’t until the final sixteenth that Love Her Lots stuck her head in front but her late kick put over a length between her and the runner-up.
Trained by co-owner Ronald Spatz, who races her with Kevin Dole and Debbi Gane, Love Her Lots came into the race with two bullets in her last six works and two other works were she was second or third fastest.
The filly is the first out of the Congrats mare Curtain Call, who is a half-sister to three winners from her dam’s five to race. That dam is a full sister to stakes winner Dark Thunder with their dam a half-sister to Argentina Horse of the Year Second Reality.
Love Her Lots was bred by Moreau Bloodstock in Kentucky.
Grade I winner Cupid now has seven winners to his name, the most of any Kentucky-based freshman sire with under 30 runners this year.
