Mare In Foal to Practical Joke Tops Broodmares at Midlantic December Mixed Sale
Practical Joke’s success in the sales ring continued Tuesday when $105,000 purchase Altar Issues was the most expensive broodmare sold at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic December Mixed Sale while carrying a foal by the stallion.
Sold by Northview Stallion Station for the Dispersal of Joseph Besecker, Altar Issues was purchased by Three Diamonds Farm as the first hip of the day to keep the lead until the racing stock went through the ring.
Carrying her second foal, Altar Issues is a half-sister to recent Listed Zia Park Oaks winner and Grade III placed Motion Emotion. She comes from an extremely active and successful family with her dam a half-sister to the dam of Grade I Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf winner Shared Account. Shared Account became the latest Breeders’ Cup winner to produce a Breeders’ Cup winner in November when her daughter Sharing won the Grade I Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.
Into Mischief’s only Grade I winner at two and three, Practical Joke has been well received in every part of the sales ring. His first weanlings have sold for up to $260,000 with one of his weanlings topping the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Fall Sale earlier this year.
