Maximum Security Colt Brings $230,000 at OBS Spring

Maximum Security’s four juveniles on offer at the OBS Spring 2-Year-Old In Training Sale were led by a $230,000 colt purchased by Clay Scherer.

Offered by McKathan Bros. Sales, the Rio Vista Stables-bred was a $110,000 weanling purchase as well. Breezing in :10.0 last week, he is the second foal out of Union Rags mare Regal Rags. That mare is a half-sister to Japanese champion and dual Group I winner Lemon Pop and three other winners from four to race.

Regal Rags is a granddaughter of Grade III winner Harpia, a full sister to Group I winner and successful sire Danehill, Grade II winner Eagle Eyed, and Grade III winner Shibboleth.

Champion Maximum Security saw his first yearlings sell for up to $350,000 last fall with the 41 yearlings sold also bringing $285,000, $180,000, $120,000, etc.
