Momentum Continues for Uncle Mo During Keeneland Book 2

Book Two of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale was another big one for Uncle Mo, who registered his fifth seven-figure yearling when Pin Oak Stud went to $1 million for a colt from Hunter Valley Farm.

Bred by Chasemere Farm, the colt is the first foal out of the winning Elusive Quality mare Flighty Almighty. That mare is a half-sister to the Group II winner Boomer and multiple stakes winner Uncle Bryn with the trio hailing from the Grade II-placed Wall of Sound.

There are stakes winners under all three of the dams with racing age foals on the page with third dam Veiled Beauty producing Group III winner The Cheka and fourth dam producing the stakes winning Arabride. That fourth dam is also the granddam of Group I winner Regal Parade.

“Beautiful colt with really nice physical. Uncle Mo has been having a pretty incredible sale so we knew he would cost,” said said Pin Oak adviser Matt Weinmann. “We saw him for the first time a few days ago and saw him a few times and had the team look at him. Jim and Dana (Bernhard, owners Pin Oak Stud) and thought he is a lovely colt.

“There is a lot of Uncle Mo about him. He looks a lot like his sire. If he is anything like him, we will be pretty happy.”

The Three Amigos were the winning bidders on Hip 1054, a $500,000 filly offered by Warrendale Sales on behalf of Silesia Farm.

Bred on the golden Uncle Mo x Bernardini cross, the filly is the second foal out of the stakes placed Slieve Mish. The mare is one of two stakes performers out of a half-sister to champion Leigh Court and five other stakes performers, including Group II winner King of Sydney.

In all, there are nine stakes performers under the filly’s first three dams including six stakes winners.

Uncle Mo also saw his yearlings bring $475,000, $325,000, $300,000, etc for an average of $275,367 for 14 sold in the ring during Book 2. Led by a $2.5 million filly and $2 million colt, his 29 sold in the ring during the first two books combined averaged $489,857 with a gross of $17.145 million.
