Money Supply Second Stakes Winner of Day for Practical Joke
For the second time on Saturday, Practical Joke saw a runner visit the stakes winner circle when Money Supply (5h Practical Joke x Evita’s Sister, by Candy Ride) won the Listed Jonathan B. Schuster Memorial Stakes.
The 1 1/16-mile turf race saw Money Supply hang out in the back of the field for much of the race with Jaime Torres content to let him have just a few horses beat. The horse made his way through the field through the turn and with a furlong left to run, was fully in gear.
It was a battle to the finish with three horses dueling for the lead, but Money Supply got up just in time to win by a head over the other two.
It was the eighth victory in 19 starts for the Practical Joke son, with that one finishing in the top three 13 times overall. He has won three of his five starts in 2024 with one other top three finish with all but one of his placings coming at the stakes level.
Trained by Joe Sharp for Jordan Wycoff, he was bred by Jeff, Teresa, and Marilyn Little and William Lynn.
He is one of two stakes winners for Evita’s Sister alongside stakes winner and Grade II Sister Nation. Evita’s Sister is a full sister to the Grade I-winning Evita Argentina with the page also including Grade I winner and champion sire Trippi.
Evita's Sister has a 2-year-old Tiz The Law colt named Versus to come.
Practical Joke is the sire of six stakes winners in 2024 with his 19 stakes performers putting him fourth among all North American sires this year.
