Munnings Filly Tops First Session of OBS March

Munnings had the co-session topper and most expensive filly of the first session at the OBS March Two-Year-Olds In Training Sale on Tuesday when Donato Lanni went to $550,000 for Hip 216.

Consigned by Eddie Woods and breezing in :10.0 last week, she is the first foal out of the winning Lemon Drop Kid mare Show Me. That mare is a half-sister to Grade III winner Aegean and stakes winner Light Bringer.

“A spectacular filly,” Woods told Thoroughbred Daily News. “We paid good money for her when we bought her and she grew up and got stronger and prettier. Her work was amazing and her gallop out was great. Everyone just seemed to love her because she was real easy to like.”

Bred by Nathan McCauley in Kentucky, the filly was a $240,000 Keeneland September purchase last Fall.

The filly came into the ring with an update on Tuesday after Light Bringer’s 3-year-old broke his maiden in February by 2 ¾ lengths.

Munnings is off to another excellent start in 2021 with his five stakes winners this year and four graded stakes winners making him a Top Five General Sire. He is booked full for 2021.
