Munnings Finite Wins Silverbulletday Stakes

Munnings’ leading Grade I Kentucky Oaks hope Finite (3f Munnings x Remit, by Tapit) added a third stakes victory to her record on Saturday when winning the Listed Silverbulletday Stakes at the Fair Grounds.

Running over a mile in the Road to the Kentucky Oaks prep race, Finite ran three wide in third going into the first turn soon after the break. The filly raced just behind the leader with Ricardo Santana Jr aboard, eagerly waiting for her chance to run at the leader.

That time came in the far turn when Finite moved up to challenge for the lead with another rival also trying to join the fight. Finite was in for a hard battle but was willing to do everything needed to win, taking the lead by a neck in the shadow of the wire to earn 10 more Kentucky Oaks points.

"What a quality filly, another very special Winchell homebred," trainer Steve Asmussen told the BloodHorse. "She has earned everything she's gotten. Everything we've asked for, she's answered. They had their chances at her, but somehow she kept in front, and we're very proud of her."

Finite provided Asmussen with his 1,000th career stakes victory when winning her fourth race in six starts for breeder and co-owner Winchell Thoroughbreds and co-owners Thomas Reiman, William Dickson, and Deborah Easter.

Finite’s family is no stranger to stakes success with her multiple stakes winning dam also the dam of Listed winner and Grade II-placed Reride. Remit herself is a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner Tapiture, Grade III winner Rotation, and Listed winner Retap.

A leading sire of 2-year-olds in 2019 and sire of 11 stakes winners overall last year, Munnings has quickly risen up to become one of the best value sires in Kentucky year after year.
