Munnings Juvenile Easy Monmouth MSW Winner
Munnings had another runner catch the eye on Friday when the Todd Pletcher-trained Munnys Gold (2f Munnings x Haraawa, by Medaglia d’Oro) romped to a 14 ½ length debut victory in a Monmouth Park Maiden Special Weight.
Racing over five furlongs on the dirt, the filly flashed her early speed to take command early on. As they hit the stretch, jockey Jairo Rendon urged her on for a few strides and that was all she needed to run away with the victory.
The Robert and Lawana Low representative won by 14 ½ lengths to earn Thoroughbred Daily News Rising Star status with the third placed horse over 20 lengths behind the winner.
Munnys Gold’s owners purchased her for $300,000 last year from Four Star Sales at the Fasig-Tipton July Sale. The dark bay was bred in Florida by Nicksar Farms out of the Medaglia d’Oro mare Haraawa, who now has two winners from two to race.
This is the family of U.S. champion Anees and multiple Group I winner Gold And Ivory among others.
Munnings’ crop of juvenile runners also include Royal Ascot runner Late September and impressive Santa Anita Maiden Special Weight winner Sell The Dream.
