Munnings’ L Street Lady Wins Xtra Heat
L Street Lady (3f Munnings x Lady Gayle, by Scat Daddy) became a stakes winner in her third career start on Saturday with a victory in the Xtra Heat Stakes at Laurel Park.
One start after impressively breaking her maiden, L Street Lady raced in second three wide out of the gate in the six furlong dirt race as she sat just about a length off the leader. She added pressure to the leading Chickieness around the turn and was forced wide as they entered the stretch but that didn’t stop her momentum.
In the final furlong, L Street Lady had the lead and worked on building her margin to cross the line 2 ¼ lengths ahead of Chickieness with the rest of the field over 11 lengths behind.
L Street Lady is trained by Brittany Russell for Madaket Stables with the filly purchased by BSW/Crow for $125,000 at the Fasig-Tipton July Sale in 2021.
T & G Farm of Kentucky bred the filly, who is one of two winners from two to race out of Scat Daddy mare Lady Gayle. That mare is a daughter of Grade III winner Good Student. Good Student is a half-sister to stakes winner The Student and Grade I-placed Collegiate, who is the dam of Grade III winner Classy Class.
L Street Lady is the second stakes winner of the year after Ginobili with the stallion also having four stakes performers, the best of any North American stallion.
