Munnys Gold Continues to Impress at Gulfstream
Munnys Gold (3f Munnings x Haraawa, by Medaglia d’Oro) had impressed on debut in her first start and her second was no different when she romped to a 6 ½ length Allowance victory at Gulfstream on Wednesday.
Though she hit the starting gate in the six furlong dirt race, she quickly recovered to take over and control the race. Keeping her rivals at bay throughout the race, when Irad Ortiz Jr. gave her a small cue to show her finishing kick, Munnys Gold was gone.
The Lawana and Robert Low representative romped to a 6 ¼ length in-hand victory with the third placed runner 13 ½ lengths behind the winner.
Bred by Nicksar Farms, Munnys Gold was purchased by the Lows for $300,000 as a yearling at the Fasig-Tipton July Sale and sent to Todd Pletcher to condition her.
She is one of two winners from two to race out of Haraawa, a daughter of stakes placed Alseera. This is also the extended family of champion Anees and Group I winner Gold And Ivory.
Munnings has been on fire early in 2023 with his 17 winners including three stakes winners and 16 winners – including a stakes double on Saturday to tie with Uncle Mo atop the General Sires list by stakes winners.
