New Stakes-Winner for Munnings
Progressive sprinter Powell (3c Munnings x Dearest One by Macho Uno) scored his first Black Type victory when taking out the $100,000 Ontario Jockey Club Stakes at Woodbine on the weekend.
Already stakes-placed twice this year, the Michael Stidham trained colt tracked the leaders and forged clear to score a tenacious half length win in the six furlong sprint.
Powell has the overall record of three wins and five placings from nine starts with prizemoney just shy of $160,000.
He is the best of two winners from Dearest One, a winning daughter of Grade I winner Dearest Trickski.
Powell is the 33rd stakes-winner for former brilliant sprinter Munnings.
