Practical Joke’s Song Parody Brings $360,000 at Fasig
A little over two weeks after she broke her maiden on debut by 5 ½ lengths, Practical Joke juvenile Song Parody (2f Practical Joke x Songofthecity, by Songandaprayer) was the second highest priced filly at the Fasig-Tipton’s Selected Horses of All Ages Sale with a $360,000 price tag.
Purchased by Magna Carta Bloodstock from Taylor Made Sales, her dam is a stakes-placed half-sister to dual Grade I winner Midnight Lucky. The family gets deeper with every generation with her third dam the dam of Grade I winner Hookedonthefeeling, who produced Grade I winners Pussycat Doll and Jimmy Creed.
“She is well put together,” Romain Malhouitre told Thoroughbred Daily News after signing for the filly. “It is a good mix between the sire and Songandaprayer as well. I thought she had a lot of class. Obviously, she was very fast first time out. We are hoping she can carry her speed.”
Heading back up to New York for her new owners, Song Parody is one of three 2-year-old winners for Practical Joke this year, led by stakes-placed Pure Fire.
