Princess Cupid (Cupid) winning Gulfstream Maiden

Princess Cupid Second Winner of Weekend For Sire

Cupid continued his momentum on Sunday when he registered his second winner in under 24 hours when Princess Cupid (2f Cupid x Hot Ember, by Dixie Union) won on debut at Gulfstream Park.

Racing as the favorite in the five furlong synthetic track race, Princess Cupid took up the runner-up position about a length and a half behind the pacesetter as they galloped around the track. It wasn’t until coming into the stretch that she made her move and steadily cut into that one’s lead.

Once she had her head in front, Princess Cupid was home free and built her margin to two lengths at the line to gave Lean Entertainment their third career win as owners.

The Juan Carlos Avila trainee showed a flash of what was to come two works ago when she registered the second fastest work of 50 over four furlongs at Gulfstream Park and backed that up with Sunday’s win.

Princess Cupid was bred by Tailgate Racing, Suzanne Watkins, and Sarah Berkowitz out of three-time winner Hot Ember.

Her family includes Grade II winner Regal Sanction, Grade III winner Nonies Dancer Ali, and stakes winner and multiple graded stakes placed Ross.

Cupid now has 15 winners from his first crop, the eighth best of any first crop sire with his winners led by two stakes winners.
