Red Hot Mama Newest Cupid Winner
Cupid’s streak of winners continued on Monday when Red Hot Mama (3f Cupid x Wickedly, by Mr. Greeley) won a Fair Grounds Maiden Special Weight to become her sire’s 14th winner of the year.
Making her 2022 debut, Red Hot Mama was entered to go 1 1/16 miles on the turf by trainer Dallas Stewart and proved it was the right decision.
Racing near the back of the pack over five lengths off the leader early on, James Graham kept her a few paths off the rail throughout before swinging four paths wide in the stretch for clear running room. Half-way down the stretch, she had one horse to catch and easily reached that foe with room to extend her margin to 1 ½ lengths at the wire.
Bred by C. Kidder, N. Cole, and B. Kidder, Red Hot Mama is racing for Charles Kidder.
One of five winners from seven to race, Red Hot Mama is a half-sister to the stakes placed There’syourtrouble and seven-time winner Anteros. Their dam is also a half-sister to the Grade I-winning Noble’s Promise and to the dams of stakes winner Angelico and stakes-placed Billy One Lite.
Red Hot Mama’s pedigree gets even better from there with her fourth dam Far Beyond the granddam of champion Soaring Softly and Grade I winner Plenty Of Grace among many others.
Having three more winners than any second crop sire this year, including the stakes winning Sterling Silver and multiple stakes-placed Minwah, Cupid is the sire of 31 winners overall with his five stakes performers led by Grade III winner God of Love and two other stakes winners.
