Scythian (Tiz The Law) Wins Saratoga Msw

Scythian Another Saratoga Winner For Tiz The Law

For the second time in 24 hours, Tiz The Law saw a runner from his first crop walk into the winner’s circle when Scythian (2f Tiz The Law x Dean Henry, by Empire Maker) won at Saratoga against males for owner/breeder Lawrence Goichman.

Making her second start in the 1 1/16-mile turf Maiden Special Weight, Scythian was the first out of the gate before allowing a few horses to pass her as she settled on the rail. The filly was happy to leave the job of pressuring the leader to another runner, sitting a few lengths behind them down the backstretch.

In the stretch, Scythian showed why bettors sent her off as favorite when she closed strongly to capture the lead. The win was timed perfectly to get Scythian in front, with the filly winning by a head for trainer Bill Mott

Scythian is a half-sister to Tale of the Cat’s stakes placed Bonita Cat and five other winners out of the stakes winning Dean Henry. That mare is a half-sister to the Grade II winner Read the Footnotes with Grade I winners such as Fire The Groom and Stravinsky also in the family.

Scythian’s victory comes one day after Tiz The Law’s Tiztastic broke his maiden at Kentucky Downs in an Allowance.
