Shesawildjoker (Practical Joke) Breaks Maiden At Belmont

Shesawildjoker Determined Winner for Practical Joke

It was a third winner from just five starters on Friday when Practical Joke’s Shesawildjoker (2f Practical Joke x Tarquinia, by Speightstown) showed determination to break her maiden on debut.

Racing over 5 ½ furlongs on the dirt, Shesawildjoker broke well and sat in third behind the leaders for the opening stages of the race. Coming around the turn, Shesawildjoker confronted the leader and the battle began.

Neither filly was going to give in easily but Shesawildjoker had a slight advantage during the stretch run and gave every indication she’ll be even better longer when she started to pull away in the final sixteenth. In the end, Shesawildjoker was a neck in front for trainer David Donk.

Sold by Bluewater Sales at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale to racing owner Joseph Bucci, Shesawildjoker was bred in New York by Three Diamonds Farm.

Shesawildjoker is the first foal out of a two-time winning Speightstown daughter of Grade II winner and Grade I-placed Luna Vega. Luna Vega is one of two stakes winners for multiple stakes winner Donnavega alongside Athenavega.

Triple Grade I winner Practical Joke’s three winners is the second best of all freshman sires behind only his studmate Caravaggio.
