Stand Up Comic Stays Perfect For Practical Joke
Practical Joke saw daughter Stand Up Comic (2f Practical Joke x Boleyn, by Proud Citizen) take her record to a perfect 2-for-2 on Wednesday with a win against males at Delaware Park.
Racing straight to the lead in the five furlong dirt race, Stand Up Comic was pressured with Charlie Marquez aboard. The filly refused to give up as she dueled with the colt throughout the run to show her determination.
The filly started to pull away in the final sixteenth to win by a neck for Cash Is King and LC Racing.
Trained by Robert Reid Jr, Stand Up Comic’s win came almost exactly a month after her two length maiden victory.
Bred by Eico Ventures, Stand Up Comic is a half-sister to Sorority Stakes winner Hi Holiday and stakes-placed Dr. B. Their dam Boleyn was second in the Grade II Demoiselle Stakes and is one of four stakes performers for her own dam with stakes winner Magnificent Val leading the charge.
Stand Up Comic's third dam is Grade I winner Magnificent Lindy with her fourth dam producing five stakes performers as well.
Boleyn was bred to Uncle Mo last year.
The sire of four winners, Practical Joke is the only North American-based freshman to have a graded stakes winner after Wit won the Grade III Sanford Stakes at Saratoga on Saturday.
