Strong Group of In-Foal Mares Represent Young Coolmore Sires at November Sales
The November Kentucky breeding stock sales will be a big few weeks for freshmen Coolmore America stallions with three exciting young sires having their first in-foal mares going through the ring at Fasig-Tipton and Keeneland starting on Tuesday afternoon.
Last year’s undefeated Triple Crown victor Justify leads all sires with first mares in foal at both sales, with his first in-foal mares including 59 Grade/Group 1 winners and/or producers. Between the two sales, buyers will have 25 chances to buy mares in foal to the Horse of the Year with mares at Fasig-Tipton including Grade 1 winner Noted and Quoted as Hip 161 and Midnight Bisou’s dam Diva Delite as Hip 173 both from Taylor Made Sales.
Champion 2-Year-Old Filly Take Charge Brandi headlines Justify’s offers at Keeneland’s November Breeding Stock sale as Hip 111 from Hill ‘n’ Dale with along with half-sisters to Champion Shamardal and Peeping Fawn, with Champion Minding’s full-sister Conquest also going through the ring in-foal to Justify.
Fellow Scat Daddy son Mendelssohn is no stranger to strong sales results. The Grade I winner is an outstanding physical who sold for $3 million at Keeneland’s September Yearling Sale in 2016 before his American Pharoah half-sister brought a record $8.2 million at the sale this year. Mendelssohn will keep that magic alive this week when his first in-foal mares go through the ring on both sides of Lexington.
The stakes winning, Grade I-placed Gitchee Goomie is the only chance to buy a mare in-foal to Mendelssohn at Fasig-Tipton when she goes through the ring as Hip 124 as part of the Royal Bloodstock Sales consignment. The next day the action moves to the ring that has been so good to Mendelssohn’s family at Keeneland.
Twenty mares in foal to Mendelssohn will make their way through the Keeneland ring over the next week starting with Hip 74, Crestwood Farm’s offering Rumble Doll on the opening day. With young, quality mares in-foal to the brilliant young stallion throughout the sale, breeders will have many chances to capitalize on the opportunity.
The well-bred mares in-foal to Mendelssohn and going through the ring at Keeneland include Grade I-placed Giovanni Boldini’s three-quarters sister as Hip 416, multiple Grade I winner I’m A Chatterbox’s half-sister Round N Round as Hip 795, and Brazilian Champion Juno selling as Hip 1091. The quality continues all the way to the last mare in-foal to Mendelssohn through the ring with Diese’s winning granddaughter Elusive Bae selling as Hip 1864 through Shawhan Place’s consignment.
A graded stakes winner on both surfaces, including the Grade I Hollywood Derby, Mo Town has the pedigree to become a major sire and buyers will be able to add a mare in-foal to the Uncle Mo son to their stable at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock sale.
Ten mares in-foal to the brilliant racehorse give breeders an added chance to have a Mo Town foal next year with Hip 858 his first mare through the ring. From the Langsem Farm consignment Supplement is a daughter of stakes winner Descapate. The deep pages continue from there with a half-sister to Grade I winner Forest Secrets from the family of Silverbulletday, the stakes producing mare Classic West, and a daughter of Chilean classic winner Lichi all in-foal to Mo Town and selling at Keeneland during the November Breeding Stock Sale.
The sales kick off at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at Fasig-Tipton’s Newtown Paddocks before moving to Keeneland at noon on Wednesday for the 12 session Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.
