Success Continues at Keeneland For Maximum Security

Following up his $350,000 colt during the first week of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, champion Maximum Security’s offerings continued to be in demand during the second week, led by a $285,000 colt.

Purchased by Ben Glass just like that earlier yearling, the colt out of Shadow Play was consigned by Lane’s End as agent for breeder Summer Wind Farm. He is the third foal out of his Galileo dam, who herself is a half-sister to Grade I Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winner Hootenanny and stakes winner Ryder Ryder Ryder.

Another one of her half-sisters became a stakes producer after the catalog was released when Daring Do won the Pea Patch Stakes on July 16. The colt’s third dam is also a Grade I producer as the dam of Cat Moves with two other runners earning black type and four daughters producing stakes performers or the dams of stakes performers.

Tom Amoss was the winning bidder on a $180,000 colt from breeder Betz Thoroughbreds consignment out of Uncle Mo daughter Mo Cerise.

That mare already has a four-time winner from her two winners from two to race and is a half-sister to stakes winner Unhindered and stakes placed Arcade. Third dam Cherry Jubilee not only won a Grade III but also produced a Grade III winner whose daughters have produced five stakes performers led by four stakes winners. Another daughter has seen her daughters produce six stakes performers as well.

This is the first crop for Maximum Security, whose championship form at three carried over to his 4-year-old season when he secured another Grade I.
