The Sky Is Falling Makes Another Visit to Winner's Circle
Cupid’s The Sky Is Falling (3f Cupid x Miss Henny Penny, by Half Ours) added a fourth stakes victory to her record on Friday night with a win in the Sadie Hawkins Stakes.
Securing her fourth straight win, The Sky Is Falling was put a few lengths off the leaders in the seven furlong dirt race with another runner challenging her throughout. Her own march toward the lead started approaching the quarter pole and in mid-stretch she was in a familiar spot when in front.
It wasn’t easy going from there but she had a three-quarter length advantage at the line for her seventh career victory in nine starts.
The filly is trained by Jeff Runco for David Raim and has earned over $235,000 in her two seasons of racing.
Bred by Catherine Jennings and Scott Mallory, she is one of two stakes winners for stakes-placed Miss Henny Penny with that mare the dam of four winners from four to race. Miss Henny Penny is also a half-sister to another stakes performer herself.
Tied with Gun Runner in third among all second-crop sires by number of winners at 59, Cupid is the sire of five stakes winners, two graded stakes winners, and eight stakes performers led by Desert Dawn.
