West Strikes for $475,000 Practical Joke Filly
Repole Stable took home a Practical Joke filly on Wednesday at the Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream Sale when West Bloodstock went to $475,000 on behalf of the owner in the middle of the session.
Consigned by SGV Thoroughbreds, she had sold for $165,000 at last year’s Fasig-Tipton July Sale before returning to the ring this week. She is out of the winning Candy Ride mare Special Treat, who has two placed runners from two foals of racing age.
This filly comes from a top family as a great-granddaughter of Grade II winner Daydreaming, who also produced Grade I winner Imagining among three stakes performers. Also in this family are Grade I Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver, Grade I winners Girolamo, Got Lucky, Bluegrass Cat and others.
This was the only offering at the sale from Practical Joke’s second crop.
Practical Joke is second to only Gun Runner in this year’s second crop standings with two stakes performers and a graded stakes winner from his 16 2022 winners, led by Grade I Kentucky Oaks contender Girl With a Dream.
