American Pharoah

American Pharoah was so impressive in winning the Gr.1 Del Mar Futurity and Gr.1 FrontRunner Stakes that the compilers of the Experimental Free Handicap felt compelled to award him joint-top weight. American Pharoah secured the Eclipse Award and he justified all the confidence shown in him by then winning the Triple Crown and Breeders’ Cup Classic. In the process he showed all the talent, versatility, durability and courage which entitle him to the greatest respect as a stallion. He is now passing on his 2yo excellence, making such an immediate impact that he became Champion first-crop sire by a wide margin. As expected, his progeny have continued to shine at three, to the extent that he now has twelve SWs, including eight at Graded level. His achievements have translated into success in the sales ring and each of his first three crops has contained at least two seven-figure yearlings.

American Pharoah’s bloodlines make him particularly valuable. Mr Prospector is back in the sixth generation of his foals and his pedigree is free of such as A.P. INDY, SEATTLE SLEW, DANZIG, SADLER’S WELLS, DEPUTY MINISTER, ROBERTO and HALO. Even Storm Cat will be back in the fourth generation of his foals and Fappiano in the fifth, allowing a second line.

Empire Maker sired Gr.1 winners from mares by three different sons of SEATTLE SLEW. American Pharoah must be a prime candidate for daughters of A.P INDY and his sons. Daughters of TAPIT would have every chance of transmitting American Pharoah’s Triple Crown prowess, as they create 4x4 to UNBRIDLED. The Gr.1 winner Harvey’s Lil Goil is American Pharoah’s first black-type winner with a dam by TAPIT.

Empire Maker sired 14% SWs from daughters of SEEKING THE GOLD. There are numerous other options from this MR PROSPECTOR male line. American Pharoah’s first Group winner, the speedy 2yo Maven, is out of a grand-daughter of DISTORTED HUMOR. His highest-priced 2020 yearling is out of a daughter of VICTORY GALLOP and therefore has two lines of FAPPIANO.

American Pharoah has made a bright start with the SADLER’S WELLS line as his son Van Gogh, a Gr.1-winning juvenile in 2020, is out of one of his daughters. His first four starters out of GALILEO mares included Gr.2 winner Pista and Gr.1-placed Monarch of Egypt. His first starter out of a MEDAGLIA D’ORO mare is the Saratoga Listed winner Another Miracle.

Pioneerof The Nile did very well with the HAIL TO REASON line. American Pharoah is now mirroring this success, as he has already sired the Gr.2-winning 2YO Four Wheel Drive and the Japanese Gr.3 dirt winner Café Pharoah from daughters of MORE THAN READY.

Mares by GIANT’S CAUSEWAY and other sons of Storm Cat create only 4x3 to STORM CAT. GIANT’S CAUSEWAY is broodmare sire of American Pharoah’s useful French winner Ocean Atlantique, while his Gr.2 winner Sweet Melania has a dam by STORM CAT’s grandson DISCREET CAT and is therefore inbred 4x4.

Mares by MARIA’S MON and his son LATENT HEAT have produced Graded performers to American Pharoah.

American Pharoah could thrive with mares by dirt performers by DANZIG, such as WAR FRONT, HARD SPUN and EXCHANGE RATE. His speedy Gr.3-winning son Turned Aside has a dam by WAR FRONT.

A daughter of IN EXCESS produced the Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming to Bodemeister and the Gr.2 winner Positive Thinking to Pioneerof The Nile. This suggests that UNCLE MO mares will succeed with American Pharoah.
