Calyx Colt Strides Clear On Second Start
Good Banter (2c Calyx – The Stalking Moon, by Arcano) confirmed the promise of last month’s debut when striding clear in Monday’s six furlong novice stakes at Wolverhampton.
The Clive Cox-trained colt was beaten just a short head on debut, a performance that earned him short-priced favouritism on his second start. Racing prominently for much of the way, he improved to lead before the final furlong and ran on well under Rossa Ryan to win by three and a half lengths, comfortably.
The colt provides a timely update for his Saxon Warrior half who sells at Tattersalls Ireland this week. Bred by Tom Hore, the son of Calyx is owned by Paul and Clare Rooney.
