Smart Debut Winner For Calyx At Newmarket
It Ain’t Two (2f Calyx – Usra, by Requinto) shaped like a smart prospect when making a winning debut at Newmarket on Wednesday.
The Hugo Palmer-trained newcomer was one of 13 to line up for the five furlong fillies maiden, which was won by subsequent Group 2 winner Persian Dreamer (Calyx) last year. Ridden prominently by Ross Coakley, she became unbalanced when disputing two furlongs from home, but ran on well to assert in the final 110 yards. She kept on to lead by three parts of a length on the line.
The winning trainer later mentioned the Listed Marygate Stakes as a possible target for It Ain’t Two, who is owned by Michael Owen and partners. Bred by Crypto Bloodstock, she hails from the second crop of Calyx.
