2YO Double For No Nay Never
No Nay Never’s fine run of form continued yesterday as his progeny completed a quick-fire 2YO double.
Verboten (2c No Nay Never - Far Away Eyes, by High Chaparral) kicked off proceedings with a debut win in the seven-furlong Novice Stakes at Yarmouth for John Gosden and Godolphin.
Held up in rear by Nicky Mackay, he was shaken up two out, running on to lead towards the finish despite showing signs of greenness.
Verboten was bred by Mr Bjarne Minde and was sold to Godolphin from Lynn Lodge Stud for €350,000 at the Goffs Orby sale.
Just ten minutes later at Fairyhouse, the Jessica Harrington-trained Nope (2f No Nay Never- Bright Sapphire, by Galileo) justified favouritism to gain her first success in the Kilminfoyle House Stud Irish EBF Maiden at the second time of asking.
Rearing slightly leaving the stalls, the Alpha Racing-owned bay went straight to the lead under Shane Foley and was never in any danger, going on to score by a cosy 1¾ lengths, from Royal Dornach (Gleneagles).
Trainer Jessica Harrington commented “Nope ran well at Naas and it was an education. She reared coming out of the stalls today, but she was still quick away and she did it well. Shane [Foley] said he got a bit of a breather into her turning in. She's a nice filly and I think 6f probably suits her best.”
Bred by Charlie Brooks, Nope (pictured) holds an entry in the Gr.2 Lowther Stakes and was sold at Tattersalls October Book 1 sale for 135,000 GNS to BBA Ireland.
