Ramatuelle (Justify) Wins Gr.3 Prix Bois at Chantilly

$5.1 Million Ramatuelle Leads Way for Justify at Fasig

Justify was the sire of the second most expensive offering at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale when M V Magnier purchased Group I winner Ramatuelle for $5.1 million.

The filly offered by Bedouin Bloodstock ended her career with a win in the Group I Prix de la Foret after being the highest rated juvenile in France last year. In all, she won four of her nine races with two other group wins to her name with five other top three finishes.

Ramatuelle is the first foal out of Grade III winner Raven’s Lady, who is out of a half-sister to Grade I winner Best of the Bests and the dam of multiple group winner and Grade I-placed Prince of Arran.

“She's a lovely filly and in fairness to Christopher Head, he's done an incredible job with her,” said Magnier. “We'll send her to Wootton Bassett next. That's what the guys want to do at the moment anyway, so that's most likely what will happen.”

Munnings’ Grade I winning daughter Eda sold for $2.55 million to Amo Racing USA from Hill ‘n’ Dale at Xalapa to be the fourth most expensive in-foal mare of the sale when carrying her first foal by Justify on a March cover.

The 5-year-old is the first foal out of Show Me, who is a winning Lemon Drop Kid half-sister to the Grade III winner Aegean and stakes winner Light Bringer. The winner of eight of her 12 starts with two other top three finishes, Eda was a $550,000 2-year-old purchase in 2021 and paid her owners back in spades. Second in the Grade II Sorrento Stakes in her stakes debut, two starts later she would kick off a seven-race win streak with that group led by the Grade I Starlet Stakes.

“She was a Grade I-winning 2-year-old with a tremendous physical and she's in foal to a stallion who is going from strength to strength,” bloodstock agent Ben McElroy said after signing the ticket on the mare. “She fits the bill for a good long-term investment for Amo.”

Queen Picasso was another mare in foal to Justify to hit the million dollar mark when she sold for $1.25 million to Pride Rock and Narvick International.

Consigned by ELiTE, Queen Picasso was a Grade III winner at two before finishing second in a Grade III as a 3-year-old. She visited Justify early this year and is pregnant to him on a March 14 cover.

Queen Picasso is one of two stakes winners and three stakes performers overall out of Aris, who also produced Group I winner Aclaim. The mare’s son Aimeric added more blacktype to his own record after the catalog was released with a pair of thirds in the Godolphin Stakes and August Stakes.

Justify also had mares in foal sell for $825,000, $500,000, etc. The stallion’s weanlings were also in high demand with the group led by a $550,000 colt out of Black Valentine.

In all, eight horses sired by Justify averaged $968,750 with only two of those racing aged offerings.
